About Roddy Cabbage
Roddy Cabbage was born right across the street from Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind. He attended and graduated from ISDB. He graduated from Gallaudet University with a degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. He returned to ISDB as a kindergarten teacher aide and worked his way up to Dean of Students. At the end of his 10 years in Student Life, he graduated from Idaho State University with a Masters in Deaf Education then taught Life Skills in the Instruction department for 3 years. He moved to New Mexico School for the Deaf and taught for 3 years before working as Director of Student Affairs for the last 15 years. Roddy has been part of Student Life for a total of 26 years. There is no question that teaching in Student Life is much more satisfying.
Roddy’s wife, Emma, teaches toddlers, the youngest students at NMSD. They have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. Whenever they’re not busy with them, Roddy enjoys his free time in his shop, working on wood projects, boating, camping, and hunting.
