About Erin Fernsler
Erin Fernsler currently works as a Residential Advisor at Delaware School for the Deaf (DSD) for the past 7 years and will never go back to teaching or the administration field. She absolutely loves being a part of the Student Life Team. Erin has been in the Deaf Education field for over 19 years, starting with Virginia School for the Deaf (VSDB) and ending with DSD.
As a mainstreamed student, Erin never really made any connections until college- NTID and there, she learned about schools for the Deaf. She decided to become a teacher for the deaf so future students will not lose opportunities to make connections with their own and make sure they feel included anywhere they go. Erin loves to collect data, to do research, and to apply all the information to enhance students’ futures wherever they decide to go.
By the end of the night, Erin goes home to her two dogs who adore her, a teenaged son, a daughter who is still learning to navigate adulthood, and her husband of 22 years. During her free time, Erin does a side job walking dogs for clients, dabbling in art, and wrangling weeds in the backyard.
