About Deb Skjeveland
Deb Skjeveland grew up in New York and is an alumnus of the Lexington School for the Deaf. She obtained her B.A. in Communication Arts from Gallaudet University then received a M.A. in Deaf Education from the University of Minnesota. Deb was a teacher at first then realized she loved the learning opportunities outside of the classroom so she transitioned into student life. Deb has been in the Student Life field for 26 years now. She was the Director of Student Life at the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indiana and is now the Director of Student Life of Model Secondary School of the Deaf in Washington, D.C.
Deb loves being with her family of 5 (Husband John and kids – Joshua, 26, Brittany, 24, Courtney, 22 and Wei, 20 - adopted from China) and enjoys being an advocate for the adoption of deaf children. Deb is also a co-founder of the National Student Life for the Deaf/HH organization and has been serving as the Coordinator of the organization for 10 years.
